"Koli Geet"

Every culture in India is differentiated from every other culture by means of its music, dance form, dressing style, language, food and mostly the overall outlook people have.

Maharashtra is a land divided by the deccan plateau. The east is a bit on the plains and Tamasha form is very famous in the east. The west on the other hand is the Konkan belt. "Koli" people's land. The land of the Fisherman folk. The land of Hapus Amba (Mango) and of the Jackfruit. The land with the waterfront home to various delicacies like Bombil (Bombay Duck), Paplet (Pomfret), Kolambi (Shrimp).

(Traditionally I have no clue what my grandfathers father did. We werent Koli folk but they lived in the Konkan Belt.)

The kolis are fun loving people. They have been picturised in the Bollywoods as people wearing Lungis with a triangular cloth in the center, a Bandana type head gear, a white banian type vest, a net on their shoulder and of course the celebrated bottle of santra and narangi in the other hand to depict a state of total and perennial inebriation. The women were depicted by the "Mungdaaaaaaaa" dress body fitting skimpy clothes (u may as well call it indian bikinis with a sarong) and always running a santra narangi bar.

And the link above are some of the songs these happy people used to listen to.
